The retreat is based on a Dzogchen text which is the basis for James Low's book, "Being Right Here". This session starts at verse 17, “Non-existent and existing entities both are grasped at as real.”
...Imagine a closed curtain over a window. As you open it, it goes into folds and part of what was visible becomes hidden. Nothing has really changed in the curtain but the enfolding means that some parts become hidden. This is how grasping operates. There is an appearance, now that the curtain is folded up; a lot if it is hidden in the folds but it has not been hidden away, it has not been lost, and if we allow it to unfold without making any change, then it appears to be quite different. In this way the momentary transformation of forms, of appearances, is misapprehended as representing different entities. So, we see something out there and we see ourselves as the maker...
